Knicks Stun Spurs in Game 1
Jalen Brunson anchored the offense with a game-high 30 points and four assists, while Josh Hart delivered a gritty double-contribution of 15 rebounds and six assists — a performance that proved critical as New York rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to close out the win.
San Antonio set the tempo early, outscoring the Knicks 27-19 in the opening quarter and extending that lead to 55-48 by the break. But New York steadily clawed back in the third quarter before exploding in the fourth, outscoring the Spurs 29-19 down the stretch to seal the victory.
Victor Wembanyama headlined the Spurs' effort in his debut NBA Finals appearance, finishing with 26 points and 12 rebounds. De'Aaron Fox chipped in five assists as San Antonio placed four players in double figures — but it was not enough to hold off a relentless Knicks push.
The win hands New York home-court advantage in the series and puts the franchise three victories away from its first NBA championship in more than five decades — a drought stretching back to 1973.
Game 2 tips off Friday night in San Antonio.
